Duende Atelier

The Workshop

Where vision meets material. A workshop rooted in traditional craftsmanship and modern engineering.

Our Story

Founded on Craft

Duende Atelier was established in Lisbon with a singular focus: to create architectural elements that transcend function and become art. Our workshop combines decades of metalworking and woodworking expertise with contemporary design sensibility.

Every project begins with a conversation. We listen to your vision, study the space, and then design solutions that honor both the architecture and the craft. From a single railing to a full staircase system, each piece receives the same meticulous attention.

The name "Duende" refers to the mysterious power of art to deeply move a person -- a quality we strive to capture in every piece we create.

What We Create

Custom Stairs

Architectural staircases in wood and metal. Spiral, straight, cantilevered, and complex geometric solutions tailored to each space.

Railings & Balustrades

Bespoke metal and wood railings. From minimal glass systems to ornate forged iron, crafted to complement any architectural style.

Art Objects

Sculptural pieces and decorative metalwork. Commissions for private collectors, galleries, and architectural installations.

Interior Elements

Architectural interior details: door frames, built-in furniture, ceiling features, and structural metalwork for residential and commercial spaces.

Materials

Premium Materials

We source and work with the finest materials available, each chosen for its unique properties and character.

Structural Steel

Hot-rolled and cold-formed sections. Welded, ground, and finished to architectural standards.

White Oak

European white oak, air-dried and kiln-finished. Selected for grain consistency and structural integrity.

Solid Walnut

American black walnut. Rich tones and exceptional workability for sculptural and furniture-grade pieces.

Tempered Glass

Laminated and toughened glass panels. Crystal-clear or tinted, with polished or sandblasted edges.

Brushed Brass

Solid brass bar and sheet. Hand-finished with brushed or patinated surfaces for accent elements.

Corten Steel

Weathering steel that develops a stable rust patina. Ideal for outdoor sculptures and architectural features.
